Tulsa Ballet’s ultimate artistic goal of having its own theater located
at its headquarters will be realized in 2008. This opportunity allows the
organization to increase its season offerings from four shows to five plus
The Nutcracker and to create the ultimate special event for Tulsa Ballet
patrons.
The showcase in the new space will provide three new works each year. They will be created by a mix of internationally recognized choreographers and young, up and coming, yet already prominent, choreographers. It will allow the audience to experience the company in a close and intimate way as the dancers will be just a few feet away.
The premiere of premieres in the new Studio K, The Kivisto Performance Hall, will feature three world premiere Tango pieces. Its purpose is to create a better understanding of and help the audience know more About Tango.
World Premiere
Fernanda Ghi & Guillermo Merlo are verifiably one of the most prominent couples in the world of Argentine Tango. They are renowned for their style, interpretation, choreography, command of the stage and clear teaching technique. They have a unique quality to convey to their audience and their students. They showcase the scope of tango emotions from intense passion to comic.
World Premiere
Young Soon Hue is a South Korean born Choreographer. Her choreography includes Kitarohue, Boef sour le toit, Elle Chante, Alles Balletti and many others, She has worked as a ballet assistant, guest teacher and guest dancer for many years. After she wowed Tulsa audiences with Backstage in 2006, Young Soon created several new contemporarys works staged around the world.
World Premiere
Named by Dance Magazine as one of the Top 25 to Watch in 2006, Ma Cong is quickly becoming as well-known for his choreography as he is for his artistry on-stage as a principal dancer for Tulsa Ballet. His first work, Folia, was followed by Samsara, Melodia, and Carmina Burana. He continues to create new works enjoyed by audiences around the world.
