Nathan Fifield comes to Tulsa from the Houston Ballet where he was a staff conductor and company pianist. He has conducted the New World Symphony, the Albany Symphony and the Oakland Youth Symphony as a guest. Nathan led performances of the operas Marriage of Figaro and Hansel and Gretel and was chorus master for Carmen, Cavaleria Rusticana and others, working as the assistant conductor for One World Symphony, Chelsea Opera in New York, as well as a pianist with Opera in the Heights. He has also served as an assistant conductor for the Princeton Symphony Orchestra and conducted the Siena Summer Festival Orchestra in concerts throughout Italy and Switzerland. Nathan received BM in Piano Performance and a MM in conducting from the Mannes School of Music where he was the recipient of the N. T. Milani Graduate Conducting Fellowship. His conducting teachers have included Michael Tilson Thomas, David Hayes, Michael Morgan, Gustav Meier, and Dan Lewis. As a ballet pianist Nathan has worked regularly with the New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theater. His compositions for ballet can be found on four ballet class CDs produced by David Howard and Laura Hausmann.
