Sofia Menteguiaga
Principal
Began her studies with Olga Ferri and Enrique Lommi, and soon joined the Instituto Superior de Arte Del Teatro Colón in her hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina where she continued her training as a classical dancer. In 2000, she was called by Ricardo Bustamante to be part of the Corps de Ballet at the Ballet de Santiago de Chile. Four years later she was appointed Soloist by the renowned ballerina Marcia Haydèe. Some of the most prominent roles in her career are Hanna in The Merry Widow, Odette-Odile in Swan Lake, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Swanilda in Coppelia, Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Anna Karenina in Anna Karenina to name a few. She has shared the stage with personalities such as Irek Mukhamedov, Svetlana Zakharova, Nina Ananiashvili, Alessandra Ferri, Julio Bocca, Julie Kent, Paloma Herrera, Robert Twesley, among others. In 2010, Sofia was convened by Lidia Segni to join the Ballet del Teatro Colón where she performed main roles, including Marguerite and Armand, an Argentinian premiere. She joined to Tulsa Ballet in the fall of 2011 and danced lead roles throughout the season. She was promoted to Principal dancer of Tulsa Ballet in the spring of 2012.
